From my archives, I am joyful to present a reprise of audio interviews I’ve conducted with the iconic Dionne Warwick, in celebration of her 84th birthday, December 12, 2024.
First up, an April 2011 interview we did in honour of her 50th anniversary as a recording artist
In 2010, Dionne Warwick became the first guest in a series of audio interviews with selected recording artists and producers under the banner “Voice Your Choice,” during which guests would select personal favourite tracks from their own recordings.
Even then, it was a mammoth task given Dionne’s extensive legacy with Scepter Records, Warner Bros. Records and Arista Records. Originally, the entire tracks were inserted into the MP3; with licensing restrictions that now apply, I opted to create an accompanying Spotify and YouTube playlists to accompany this version in which Dionne shares personal insights and reminiscences about her eight selections.
The YouTube playlist includes a few television clips and a rare ‘find’ clip of a Dionne /Luther remix of “So Amazing”
