The month of June seems like the perfect time to release a sumptuous 8CD box set through SoulMusic Records of the wonderful music by DENIECE WILLIAMS, whose birthname is in fact ‘June’ and who celebrated her birthday on June 3rd!

With (115) tracks covering Niecy’s tenure with Columbia and ARC Records from 1976-1988 – including all (11) albums plus bonus tracks and a disc of single edits and remixes, I put this box set together as its’ reissue producer with much joy and appreciation for the stellar work that Deniece and an array of incredible producers and songwriters created.  I was particularly struck by how many of the songs were written or co-written by Niecy herself and how she was increasingly involved as a producer or co-producer starting with 1981’s “My Melody” set, co-produced with the legendary Philly soul master Thom Bell.

Insightful, stellar notes from Justin Kantor (including quotes from Deniece) make this amazing box set, due for release on June 25, 2021 a ‘must have’!
