I am thrilled to announce that Charly Records is releasing the first LP for the relaunched Soul City label.  Taking a cue from “Soul From The City,” the very first album that was released on the original Soul City label in 1969 (for which I did my very first liner notes!), we have “DEEP SOUL CITY,” compiled in collaboration with Glenn Gunton.

Dave Godin (former co-founder of Soul City) had a passion for the raw, undiscovered, sincere, deep soul of America that had long been forgotten, discarded and unloved. Before his passing in 2004 he saw his passion realised in a four CD series Deep Soul Treasures that captured the record buyers imagination and propelled deep soul into the spotlight… and the charts!

Now, courtesy of David Nathan (Godin’s original co-founder along with Robert Blackmore),  we revisit the acclaimed series with a breathtaking new compilation endorsed by the cream of rare soul collectors and DJ’s.

Deep Soul has returned to its spiritual home on Soul City, curated with David Nathan, the British Ambassador Of Soul.
