In writing #68 of my ‘Diary Of A British Soul Man’ posts, I referenced the late Dee Dee Warwick, younger sister of Dionne, as one of the background singers on Bessie Banks’ original recording of “Go Now,” a reminder of Dee Dee’s own glorious recordings. Thanks to YouTube, I found this amazing clip of Dee Dee singing at The Bitter End Club in New York in 1968, performing a number of her recordings for Mercury Records including this true gem, “I’ll Be Better Off (Without You),” written and produced by none other than Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff. True soul!
